本书以英汉双语为载体，每单元以简明的双语导读开篇，选取国学典籍中包含传统文化核心思想的重要篇章及其经典英译作为阅读体验，读后设置思辨性的 问题和名言警句翻译练习，通过老师的引导性讲解和难点解答，达到三个方面的 目的：其一，培养大学生阅读国学经典的兴趣，提升他们的传统文化修养；其二， 引导大学生掌握中华文化精髓，传承发扬中华优秀文化；其三，帮助大学生学会 用英语讲述中国故事，以便更好的传播中华文化。
