    《大学英语阅读教程》与“新思路大学英语”系列的其他教材（包括基础教程、综合教程和视听说教程）配合使用，共四册，本书是第一册。
    本书按照历史、地理、文化、科普、故事、社会等类别精选阅读材料，力图使学生对大学英语四级考试的阅读材料有全面、深入的了解。文章选材新颖，注重内容的趣味性、实用性、可读性。材料的选择和难度是依据教育部颁发的《大学英语教学指南》的要求，目的是激发学生的阅读兴趣，增强学生对大学英语四级考试的信心。本次修订遵循理论与实践相结合的原则，坚持立德树人；篇章选取、练习设计等方面注重引导学生坚定文化自信，有助于文明互鉴和文化交流。
